Throw Pink Ladies Clinic at the 2020 USDGC

2020 is the year to hit the reset button and finally commit to all those New Year’s resolutions. Since there is no reset button for 2020, why not bring some joy to your year and join us for a fun morning of disc golf that makes a difference for women's health initiatives. Throw Pink will be hosting a ladies’ disc golf clinic at the 2020 USDGC. It’s a time to have fun, meet some new friends, and learn a new social-distancing friendly sport.

The ladies’ clinic will be hosted on Sunday, October 11, 2020, in Rock Hill, SC at the Winthrop Arena Course. Ladies and girls of all skill levels are encouraged to join.

The cost to register is $20 and includes a fun player pack, a clinic taught by professional women disc golfers, a round of disc golf, and a charitable donation to Throw Pink! Don’t have any discs? No problem! There will be plenty of discs available for you to use at the clinic.

Throw Pink's mission is to grow and encourage women's participation in disc sports. Throw Pink was created by women for women to inspire, empower, and elevate each other. Through fun disc golf initiatives, Throw Pink raises money for organizations that support and advocate for all aspects of women's health.

Please pre-register for the Throw Pink Ladies Clinic at the USDGC on Disc Golf United. Can’t attend? We also have a supporter option!

History of the Throw Pink Ladies Clinic

The Throw Pink USDGC Disc Golf Clinic began in 2014 at Fewell Park in Rock Hill. Ladies from all over joined and most were new to disc golf! In 2018, Throw Pink moved the ladies' clinic to the Winthrop Recreation Area, the same site as the USDGC. There, Winthrop Arena Course Designer Andrew Duvall designs a fun and challenging course special to the Throw Pink event.

Throw Pink started the clinic as a come-as-you-are event to welcome and encourage women and girls to get out and get active with disc golf. No disc golf knowledge necessary to attend this welcoming clinic. The clinic in the past has been taught by various pro-women disc golfers like Elaine King, Des Reading, and Madison Walker.

Don’t be intimidated by the World Champions in attendance. This event is fun and welcoming to all.  Betsy Lytle, who attended a clinic with her 12-yr old daughter, said, “For us being beginners, it’s less intimidating to come to events specific to women. And, to help raise money for a good cause – it’s a win, win.”

The clinic will cover everything a beginner will need to know to begin their disc golf journey.

“This is the perfect opportunity for ladies of all ages to try their hand at disc golf,” said Throw Pink Coordinator Sara Nicholson. “You’ll be surprised at how well you do, and you’ll be doing it for a good cause.”

Make sure to pre-register for this year’s Throw Pink Ladies Clinic at the USDGC here. Only pre-registered players will be allowed to attend this year due to Winthrop’s COVID guidelines. You must be on the pre-registered list to enter the area. We hope to see you there!

Safety Measures For This Year’s Clinic

This clinic will look a little different than previous Throw Pink clinics at the USDGC. Instead of occurring during the final day of The Championship, it will happen the day after it ends.

All ladies must pre-register for the disc golf clinic on Disc Golf United. All ladies attending the clinic will also go through a COVID-19 screening before entering the Winthrop Arena Course.

Clinic groups will be limited to 4 people to ensure social-distancing guidelines of 6-ft are met. Masks are also required anytime you are not throwing. If you feel sick, please let us know and do not come to the ladies’ clinic. Everyone’s health is our top priority.

To see full safety guidelines, please check out this announcement by the USDGC.
